10-year-old Srikar is from Warangal and belongs to a family of four. He was diagnosed with Ewings sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that occurs in the bones or soft tissue around the bones. He moved to Hyderabad for his treatment at Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute (BIACH). During this time, he also underwent nasopharyngeal surgery, which involves the nasopharynx, the upper part of the throat behind the nose. Post-surgery he was kept on RT feeds because of many complications. Since then, he has recovered gradually. Despite the cards dealt to him, brave Srikar kept his family’s spirits up by sharing his belief that he would be alright after the completion of treatment.

Raju, Srikar’s father, who works as an insurance agent, reflects pride on his little son’s strength. “We were devastated when we found out about Srikar’s diagnosis. We were worried that our child would never be cured. But Srikar has been stronger than I expected. He encouraged us and assured us that everything would be ok with time.”

And things did turn around for Srikar, thanks to your support. The Supplements, Ration, In-meals programs and nutritional counselling helped Srikar grow stronger and successfully fought treatment side effects. His weight has increased from 23kgs to 28kgs.
